Massage Benefits

Did you know that regular massage treatments can strengthen your immune system therefore making you healthier and less prone to illness and disease? Did you also know that by getting massages regularly you can significantly lower your stress and anxiety levels and fend off depression? For some people, massage is strictly associated with stress relief, pain management or a luxury treat, regrettably underestimating how comprehensive massage benefits are. Just because massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic.

Massage Benefits: The Power of Touch

Massage is one of the universal healing techniques and has been a component of traditional healing systems for millennia.  Based on the principle that human beings respond positively to being touched, massage is an important technique for awakening the inner pharmacy.Massage Benefits - Power of Touch

When you feel relaxed, comfortable, or invigorated during a massage, it is because your body is increasing its production of natural relaxing, pain-relieving, or energising chemicals. In addition to feeling good, regular massage and loving touch detoxifies the body’s tissues, increases circulation, calms the mind, and enhances immune function.

There has been a considerable amount of research lately into the effects of touch. Massage benefits include ease of chronic pain, prevention of neurological disorders, reduced fatigue, insomnia relief and alleviation of the tensions associated with modern lifestyle . It can help premature babies gain weight faster and help air traffic controllers lower their blood pressure.

Also, you can, it has been shown, cause the secretion of VIP – vasoactive intestinal polypeptide – when you massage someone. VIP is one of the most powerful vassal dilators known to medical science, and can increase the blood flow to the heart, which means that massage is a very powerful tool in treating cardiovascular problems as well. Consequently, the medical community is actively embracing bodywork, and massage is becoming an integral part of medical care.Benefits of Massage - Man

Studies revealed that premature babies who were regularly stroked gained forty-nine per cent more weight per day. Stroking the baby caused the secretion of growth hormones, or anabolic hormones. Because growth hormones in small doses also helps to reverse the signs of ageing, when you massage someone you can lower their biological age.

My Personal Experience

Getting a massage will be great, but getting massages on a regular basis will do wonders for you. Taking part in regularly scheduled treatments will play a huge part on how healthy you will be and feel and how youthful you will remain through the passage of time.  I understand that for some people getting regular massage treatments will mean a serious investment on their part, but it is one of the most savvy investments you can make to stay healthy and live your life with vibrancy and radiance!

I have tried many different massage techniques including Swedish, Ayurvedic, holistic, Thai, stone, deep tissue, traditional Chinese, reflexology and a few others and I have derived benefits from all of them. Having said this, like everything else in life, I have grown very fond of a few techniques, most of them associated with Ayurvedic-type massages. One of these techniques is referred to as Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, which combines deep tissue massage with coordinated breath-work and yoga stretching.  If  you’d like to know why I like it so much, click here to find out.
